Your Alpine Wilderness Trail Adventure by Segway includes roundtrip transportation from the cruise ship docks in downtown Juneau. A short drive takes you to Eaglecrest Ski Area on Douglas Island, where you'll gear up and learn how to operate your segway. You'll leave the crowds far behind as you head out on the cross-country Nordic ski trail, surrounded by Alaska's pristine environment of mountain peaks and towering spruce and hemlock trees. Your friendly local guide will share their wealth of knowledge along the way as you listen for eagle calls and watch for wildlife. Take in the serenity as you walk along the snow-melt creek and enjoy a locally-sourced snack with your group, and make sure to capture some amazing photos! I've never been on a Segway before, is it easy?

Yes! No experience is necessary. A short training session by the guide helps you become acquainted with your Segway. You’ll be surprised how quickly you get the hang of it!

Are there any restrictions?

No experience necessary, however, guests should feel comfortable operating a Segway. Not recommended for pregnant women, anyone with balancing problems or who may be taking medications that affect balance. This tour has a minimum age of 14, a maximum age of 70, and a maximum weight limit of 260 lbs.

What if our ship is delayed or doesn't make it into port. Refund?

It's very rare that a ship is delayed into port, but in those cases, we will try our best to work with you to reschedule the tour to a later time. If that is not a possibility or your ship doesn't make it into port, we will refund you.

Small group sizes. Segway tours can accommodate up to 6 guests.

Cancel up to 14-days before the tour for a refund. No refund is available if canceled within 14-days of the tour. If for any reason your tour is canceled, or if your cruise ship's schedule changes, you will receive a refund. Refunds do not include any non-refundable fees. Begin the tour with convenient pick-up at Mount Roberts Tramway, right next to the cruise docks & downtown Juneau, for a scenic ride over to Douglas Island.

After reaching Eaglecrest Ski Area for your tour, your guides will run through safety information & how to operate your segway, as well as outfitting you in a helmet.

Now it's time to begin the fun! You'll zip around alpine trails on your segway, stopping for photos and learning about the fascinating local flora & fauna from your guide.

At the halfway point of the tour, take a short walk from Fish Creek (where you may spot some salmon) along the Historic Treadwell Ditch to see the old-growth Tongass Rainforest up close & grab a locally sourced snack from your guide.

After your break, hop back on your segway for your scenic return trip, taking in the stunning mountains, rich rainforest, and all the beauty that natural Alaska has to offer as you go.

After returning your gear, hop back in the vans for your ride back to Mount Roberts Tramway, where you can hop back on your ship or explore the nearby downtown.
